Computer Padlock

If you consider the material on your computer to be so valuable that you need to turn your computer into a veritable safe, the computer padlock is for you.

Sure, it's tough to compare your family photos and pornography collection into things like diamonds and bonds that have, you know, legitimate value, but I'm sure there's at least one person out there who would steal your precious data.

So go ahead and drop $120 on this thing. It simply plugs into a USB port on your computer, making it inaccessible without the proper code.

It runs on a couple of AA batteries which should keep you going for 5 years or so without needing to be replaced, and it'll make sure that no enterprising thieves get their hands on your vacation photos

Twin Draft Guard

While not necessarily being a security product directly, the Twin Draft Guard, now being widely advertised on television, is a sensational product that is very competitively priced and offers potential savings on energy costs.

My original thoughts about this product were, "what does a product of this kind have to do with security products or services?"

But when you consider that the gaps found at the bottom of doors are potential spots that can allow for covert entry, a product like this can offer security from this action.

There are tools available to slide under the door, that can be manipulated to open the inner turn-button on your door lock. Using this product, not only can you save money on your energy costs, but you can make this form of surreptitious entry almost impossible.

As advertised on TV, this product sells for $19.99.

Is that unbeatable value?

Came across this excellent video on why you should visit a professional instead of the big box stores, when considering any security product purchase.

Biometric Garage Door Entry

Master Lock Co. have introduced a new product to enter the Biometric products market.

The smartTOUCH garage door opener works with any manufacturer’s garage door opener, and stores up to 20 user’s fingerprints. You can also provide temporary access for contractors or visitors etc, by adding, deleting, and changing user profiles.

I know, it’s all good until someone hacks your finger off, just like SmartScan, but what are ya gonna do? The smartTOUCH operates by sliding the cover open and swiping your finger(Assuming you still have it). The device’s algorithm reads the “unique swirls on your finger to create a unique code, that only comes back to you.” The code is then encrypted and can’t be used to recreate your print. They say that it will work out of the box and is a breeze to install and operate. It’s also weatherproof and can operate at temperatures from -30 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit. You can get one at Home Depot stores everywhere for a MSRP of $129.95.
