Industrial Trash-Bin Gravity Lock

Pictured here is a typical industrial waste bin, often found near small businesses for depositing their waste.

A common problem occurring is these bins filling up with other peoples waste. Often the small business will try to secure the lid, to prevent unauthorised access to the bin. This usually requires the addition of a padlock and chain to the container, requiring the waste collector to exit their cab and open the padlock.

Not anymore, thanks to our friends at Lock Focus. They have designed and built another unique locking mechanism (pictured below) tailored to allow the security of the container but with the convenience that allows the waste collector to not exit the cab to empty it. This enables cost savings in time and storage and also the security of the container.

The lock is internally mounted with just an exposed keyhole where a 1/4 spanner lock key is used to unlock the mechanism for the small business.
When the bin is tilted forward as the collector raises it, the gravity action on the mechanism allows the lid to unlock emptying the contents of the bin. When the bin is lowered, the lock is automatically locked again.
There is an emergency release handle inside to allow for egress if necessary.
