Recently we were called to upgrade a clients gate locks to double cylinder high-security and expand the already secure
Bilock Extreme Security Key System. The system is a few years old, but it has been very effective in preventing her nosy neighbors and other vagabonds from getting in to her house.
But these would-be opportunists continued to play games and were accessing her perimeter gates by simply picking the simple wafer/disc tumbler key cylinder found on the cheaper version of
D&D Technologies gate lock.
Following is a description of the process involved in dismantling the locks, installing the Bilock cylinders into them and then installing the new locks to the requested gates.
This is what we saw on first time arrival onsite. The original lock installed to the gate and post shows the existing wafer/disc tumbler keyhole.

Lokk Latch Deluxe
|
The Lokk Latch Deluxe is built from high-grade polymer, that ensures a simple to operate mechanism that weathers the elements and continues good use. You can see the rear of the internal mechanism here...

We must disassemble the mechanism to be able to replace the cylinder with a high-security cylinder.
Pulling the cylinder and locking assembly out is straightforward. pictured here you can see the cylinder pocket, the plunger spring, the bezel guide and the locking bar.

The Bilock Extreme Security cylinder shown here is used in deadbolts, entrance sets and many differing switch locks. Because you can use different screw on tail caps, Bilock offers many and varied brands of hardware where their high-security cylinders will fit into.

The interior button is easily removed too. Simply slide the retaining plate (a half moon shaped cover) and remove the old cylinder. You will need to remove the old tail piece and install it to the new Bilock Extreme Security cylinder, like in the above images,

Be sure you follow the included installation instructions in the Lokk Latch Deluxe bag. Correct installation will ensure continued painless operation of the product.
 |
| The newer model of the Lokk Latch Deluxe includes a flanged attachment that dramatically increases the security of the fitting. I am using it here as a guide to align the lock body correctly on the fence post. |
Pilot drilling your holes is a good practise to get into to ensure accuracy and precise fitting. You can easily increase a hole size as desired, but you can not decrease a hole size easily. I use a 5/32" guage high-speed twist drill on a fast speed setting on my drill to drill the pilot holes. Then I expand the connecting tail piece hole to the required 1/2". A 1/2" hole may seem too large, but consider that this will help you with easy alignment of the lock mechanism when time comes to screw it all together.
 |
| D&D Technologies have made it easy, including 2 different length connecting tail pieces, ensuring you can use the product on a variety of size and width doors and gates, Simply cut the connecting rod to the required size of your application. |
The completed installation looks and operates first class. this view is from the outside of the gate.

This image is from another gate at the same premise. All told, we installed 3 of the Lokk Latch Deluxe, all keyed to the Bilock Extreme Security Key Control System.
 |
| Notice here the brackets attaching the fence, above and below the new lock, are not aligned with the holes? This was necessary because the old lock used a smaller footprint and we were required to move the brackets to enable the new lock to fit correctly and operate flawlessly. |
The stainless steel pin is very strong and weather resistant. It is also fitted using a flanged bracket that increases the security of the application.
