New Security Camera From D-Link

D-Link just introduce this latest addition to their line of cameras.
The D-Link Pan/Tilt/Zoom PoE Internet Camera (DCS-5610) is a full-featured surveillance camera designed to monitor the home, office, and small business. IP surveillance systems are quickly gaining ground over conventional CCTV security cameras due to superior performance, low costs, and convenient management. Features such as Power over Ethernet (PoE) support, 2.6x optical zoom, SIP 2-way audio, and 3G mobile phone support make this network camera a premier surveillance solution.
Optimal Placement
With the ability to Pan/Tilt/Zoom, the DCS-5610 is an ideal whole room surveillance camera. Mount the camera on the ceiling or wall and receive whole room surveillance. Support for 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) enables the DCS-5610 to receive both power and data over an RJ-45 Ethernet cable from a PoE enabled switch, negating the need for a nearby power source. The DCS-5610 supports 2-Way Audio with its built-in microphone and audio-out port*. Attach a powered speaker to the audio-out port and remotely communicate with anyone within close proximity to the camera.

Additionally, you can utilize the compatible IP Camera Outdoor Enclosure (DCS-70) to monitor and survey in harsh outdoor environments.

Viewing Quality
The DCS-5610 supports both MPEG-4 and Motion JPEG (MJPEG) to provide both high quality and bandwidth efficient compression formats. Motion JPEG delivers greater file integrity, making it ideal for detailed monitoring situations. MPEG-4 video utilizes compressed files, useful for extended recording periods or for use in low bandwidth networks. With support for 2.6x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom, you can view the camera’s video feed in close-up detail. Plus, the DCS-5610 supports a resolution of 640x480 at 30fps, allowing for high-quality recordings.

3GPP Mobile Surveillance
Support for 3GPP Mobile Surveillance allows you to view a live video feed from your compatible Internet-ready mobile phone or PDA with a 3GPP player installed. This extends your monitoring capability without requiring the use of a computer, allowing you to check your camera’s video feed while on-the-go.

Convenient Management and Monitoring
Manage the DCS-5610 using a Web-based interface or with the included D-ViewCam™ 2.0 management software. D-ViewCam 2.0 management software can manage up to 32 network cameras, send e-mail alert notifications, set recording schedules, and trigger motion detection to record directly to your hard drive. D-ViewCam 2.0 also allows you to upload a floor plan of your home and create a realistic layout of where your cameras are located, further simplifying the management process.

2003-2006 International Building Code Updates

The City of St Louis, Missouri adopted the 2003 International Building Code as it's standard charter for residential and commercial developments.

The most recent updates to the code appear to be 2003-2006.

What affects the "means of egress" part of the code is as follows:

Section 406.1.4 is updated to read, "Door openings between a private garage and a dwelling unit, shall be equipped with either solid wood doors or honeycomb core steel doors not less than 1 3/8" thick, or doors in compliance with section 715.4.3. Openings from a private garage to a room used for sleeping purposes, shall not be permitted. Doors shall be self-closing and self-latching."

And:

Section 1008.1.9 is updated to read, "Each door in a means of egress from a Group A or E occupancy having an occupant load of 50 or more and any Group H occupancy shall not be provided with a latch or lock unless it is panic hardware or fire exit hardware."

There are certain exemptions in rare circumstances, but the above is the gist of it.

City Of St Louis, Missouri Emergency Egress Laws

I have been looking into the particular rules for the City of St Louis, Missouri Emergency Egress laws, in order to be able to accurately and efficiently make the correct recommendations to potential customers.

St Louis City Revised Code Chapter 25.06: FIRE PREVENTION CODE, includes the following bylaws in section F4702.1 MEANS OF EGRESS.

SECTION F-4702.0 MEANS OF EGRESS

F-4702.1 Number of exits: In nonresidential buildings, every occupied story more than six stories above grade shall be provided with not less than two independent exits. In residential buildings, every story exceeding two stories above grade shall be provided with not less than two independent exits. In stories where more than one exit is required, all occupants shall have access to at least two exits. Every occupied story which is both completely below grade and greater than 2,000 square feet (186 m2) shall be provided with not less than two independent exits.

Exception: A single exit is acceptable under any one of the following conditions:

1. Where the building is equipped throughout with an approved automatic sprinkler system and an approved automatic fire detection system with smoke detectors located in all corridors, lobbies and common areas.

2. Where the building is equipped throughout with an approved automatic fire detection system, and the exit is an approved smokeproof enclosure or pressurized stairway.

3. Where an existing fire escape complying with the building code listed in Chapter 44 is provided in addition to the single exit.

4. Where permitted by the building code listed in Chapter 44.

Next, we will look at Chapter 44 to determine correct definitions and code compliance requirements.

Update: Chapter 44 appears to be elusive.

Markar Continuous Hinges

I really enjoy learning new ideas and skills that better my skill level and help me to provide broader ranges of products and services to my growing clients.

One such company, I only learned about in recent days, is Markar Architectural products.

Markar is a manufacturer of architectural grade adjustable continuous hinges and edge guards and has been a leader for innovative products in the hardware industry since 1969. Markar was the first manufacturer to produce a continuous pin and barrel hinge line and a patented adjustable continuous edge guard. By listening to its customers' feedback, Markar developed over seventy standard continuous hinge models in order to provide products for a wide variety of applications.

Markar is a company committed to growth and over the years has expanded its operation to include a door component line. Markar's lite kits and louvers are a cut above the rest for maximum strength and durability. As a subsidiary of the Adams Rite Manufacturing Co., Markar will continue to lead the way for innovative and advanced design concepts for the door and hardware industry.

Many people are unaware of the reasons their doors often stop working or have problems with closing and securing.

There can be multiple reasons for doors not functioning properly, but surprisingly, one of those reasons is very often overlooked.

An experienced tradesperson will usually be able to tell immediately where a problem may be.

It is often critical to also look at the hinges as one of the fundamental factors in repairing or maintaining quality security and functionality.

Pictured above are some diagrams depicting typical stress points on a typical door fitting.

Installation of continuous hinges, like the ones manufactured by Markar, can help to prevent these problems.

Confirmation from Local Fire Marshall

I recently met the local Fire Marshall and enjoyed a revealing conversation with him about life safety codes and the fire code.

Part of our discussion involved me showing him the following product.

This intelligent device simply slips over your existing entrance set and provides for a glow in the dark handle grip. Perfect for arthritis sufferers.

Opening doors just got easier. Stop struggling with slippery door knobs! Great Grips go over round door knobs, creating a secure, slip-free grip. Grips glow for up to 8 hours so you’ll never fumble for a knob in the dark again! No tool installation — simply moisten with water and stretch to fit. Set of 2.

Use of these sensational products is considered one of the least expensive methods for complying with ADA and AHJ panic exit requirements without the need to replace or install expensive hardware.

Most jurisdictions have adopted the 2003 International Building Code as the basis for construction. Many inspectors will not issue occupancy permits unless door hardware meets code. Now you can comply with the code without the need for expensive hardware.

The Fire Marshall was unfamiliar with the product, but appeared very enthusiastic and supportive of this incredibly inexpensive and thoughtful initiative to attempt to make existing hardware applications, safer.

Federal Trade Comission Consumer Alert

FTC Consumer Alert

The Keys to Hiring a Reputable Locksmith

If you’ve ever locked yourself out of your car or home, you know what a hassle it can be. Your first thought is to get someone to help you out of your situation. If a family member or friend can’t deliver a spare set of keys, your next call might be to a local locksmith. But before you make that call, consider this: According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection agency, some locksmiths advertising in your local telephone book may not be local at all. They may not have professional training. What’s more, some of them may use intimidating tactics and overcharge you.

When “Local” Is Really Long-Distance

Consider this scenario: A company far away from your town chooses a name for its business that is very similar to the name used by a local locksmith. The company advertises in the phone book or on the Web using a local telephone number and local address. When you call the number, you’re actually connected to a call center in another city. What’s more, there’s no locksmith shop at the address listed.

You may be quoted a price on the phone, but when the locksmith arrives, often in an unmarked vehicle, he may want significantly more money. The locksmith also may accept only cash.

Some who claim to be “local locksmith” companies have multiple listings (sometimes 30 or more separate listings in a single phone book) with different names. But the calls to each of these numbers go back to the same central number in a distant city where operators dispatch untrained individuals to do the job.

Electronic Security Products - Should We? or Shant We?

Every so often, I am asked to recommend electronic locking products. Having been in the physical security industry over 25 years and worked in multiple continents, I have seen many and varied applications.

The electronic components in security products started way back in the early 20th century when the first electric strike was installed in an upmarket New York apartment complex.

Up until that time, multi-level apartment complexes required doormen and an escorted elevator trip. The advantage that the electric strike presented was the ability to enjoy a secure entrance unmanned 24 hours a day and 7 days a week at a significantly reduced cost.

Most electronic hardwired systems available today are required to be "fail-safe". This means that if the power fails or is interrupted, the device is un-secure. Many product manufacturers started putting in battery back-ups in their products to assist with security necessities.

The advent of wireless systems actually negates the fail-safe mentality until the battery runs out.....but even still many products have an in-built lithium polymer long life battery, to provide just enough power until the main source batteries can be recharged or replaced.

Technology is advancing rapidly and products are slowly becoming better quality and experiencing longer lives, however I still feel it necessary to recommend to my clients to maintain that mechanical back-up "just in case".

This is expressly why the locksmith industry will continue to exist, much to the negatives of some.

Locksmiths, for over 2 centuries have been designing, maintaining and creating systems and products designed to protect the assets of the marketplace. Locksmiths will continue to do so for the next 200 years, I'm sure.

When asked "Should We?".....my first answer is based on determining the true benefits. But I always will recommend a mechanical backup.

The true benefits could be, no more keys to worry about (what about the proximity card - doesnt this just take the place of a key?), the ability to perform audit trails (on sophisticated systems), combination entry (negates the need for a key, but requires a code to be remembered - this could lead to codes being shared - leading to a major security issue).

One of the best advances today is the advent of Bio-metric systems. Finger print identification systems can negate the need for a key or the need to remember a combination (you cannot lend your finger to someone else - can you?).

The marketplace should also remember that electronic security products are still expensive and not as generally reliable as mechanical security products. Locksmiths can provide restricted key control systems that enable end users to control who has keys to their properties. This is one of the least expensive and most secure methods for protecting assets, often without the need to replace costly hardware.

What Does It Cost To Get Locks Changed?

Many enquiries that locksmiths receive, are about the cost to change locks.

Often, clients are meaning to inquire as to just changing the combinations of their existing locks, so they can maintain the same hardware on their doors.

Or when the keys to their house, office or automobile have been misplaced, stolen or even copied unknowingly (suspected), the have the need to re-code their locks.
Also many new home buyers or new tenants want to make sure that previous residents of their property can no longer gain entry.

Locksmiths across the country vary greatly in their fees. There are accepted industry averages published in locksmith publications like The National Locksmith magazine and the Locksmith Ledger magazine annually, but the going rate can vary from around $5.00 per keyhole to as much as $20.00 per keyhole for residential or commercial door locks and from $10.00 to $35.00 for automobile locks. Often this does not include labor for the removal and refitting of locks.

Master-keying is another charge that most locksmiths charge slightly higher fees for. Often, specialist products like Medeco or Multlock or Primus or Best or Assa or Abloy or Bilock products can incur significantly increased fees due to the higher cost for the pin or disc tumblers.

Locks210.com charges a standard fee of $10.00 per keyhole to re-key a standard residential or commercial door cylinder not including labor for removal and refitting. Master-keying is $15.00 per keyhole.

We can offer automobile re-keying services but prices are subject to application. There are many and varying brands and manufacturers of automobile lock cylinders, requiring multiple different keying kits. Stocking all possible kits to service all makes and models of foreign and domestic vehicles requires significant amounts of warehousing that directly impacts costs.

If the products are brought to us, we charge the same fees without labor of course.

Most locksmiths will provide the first 2 keys at no charge. For residential or commercial doors (not automotive) we provide the first 3 keys.

Air Vent Safe

Most safes make it pretty obvious that your valuables are inside, usually due to the combination lock or keypad on the outside. You can hide stuff under your matress or behind various other things that a thief would want to steal, but that’s pretty unorganized. What if you could hide your valuables inside of something that’s so common, that it’s completely out of sight? How about an air vent? To install it, just cut out a section of drywall, and put in the compartment fastening it with screws. It opens with a mechanism that is hidden in the grill and no one will see your stuff thanks to a black divider. It will cost you $259.95, but you have to admit, it’s the best hiding spot.

BioAxxis Fingerprint Door Lock Named Best by Good Housekeeping Research Institute

Syracuse, NY (June 3, 2008) –The Good Housekeeping Research Institute has tested and evaluated the BioAxxis® BD1, biometric deadbolt and the Institute has rated it the best compared to the others on the market. A revolutionary new lock from BioAxxis Development Corporation uses your fingerprint instead of a key, forever eliminating the need to fumble in pockets or purses and improving home security and safety. The lock, called the BD1 for Biometric Deadbolt, has been featured on CNBC and received the top honor for design and engineering at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2007.

The Good Housekeeping Research Institute just tested a few of these new locks to see if they're worth the money.

"Fingerprint-scanning technology is showing up in a lot of consumer products nowadays. You see it on laptops and printers, and more recently on front door openers and garage door openers," said Stacy Genovese, the Good Housekeeping Research Institute's Engineering Director.

After careful testing the Good Housekeeping Research Institute concluded the BioAxxis® BD1 the most reliable biometric lock. Genovese states, “The BioAxxis lock held up to all our testing and proved to be best door lock we tested.” The institute tested the lock in a variety of ways.

"We had many people register as users so they could open the doors, and then tested it on lots of other people that weren't registered to make sure it wouldn't let them in. We also tested it in a rain tester and in a humidity chamber set at 30 degrees so you could get in the winter," Genovese said

Locks210.com is an authorised dealer of Bioaxxis products. For an obligation free appraisal or demonstration, contact us on (314)266-1533.

Logitec WiLife CCTV Security System

The WiLife system consists of indoor and outdoor cameras as well as a variety of night-vision accessories that easily connect to a PC via USB.

How It Works
The system begins working as soon as it is plugged in, all the cameras installed and installed the newest version of the software, WiLife Command Center 2.5 on a PC.

The quality of the recordings is surprisingly good.

You can access those cameras for free over the Internet, even via cellphone, and the system can alert you via e-mail if anything moves. Remarkable. Any prowlers wanting to help themselves would have VGA-quality color movies (no sound) of them in the act. Just the mere presence of such cameras, with their highly visible red and green lights (which can be easily turned off), serves as a strong deterrent.

Platinum Edition
This WiLife system newest software, the Platinum Edition add-on, costs $79.95 per year. It lets you electronically pan and zoom all the cameras and, most importantly, store footage online. That makes tons of sense, because if someone is robbing your house, the computer with all the WiLife footage will probably be one of the first things stolen.

The downside? It's not perfect. The system is geared toward recording footage, so live viewing of all the cameras isn't as smooth as it could be. Also, while the cameras all have good low-light performance, they require an optional infrared lighting system and special lens to actually see faces at night. Keep in mind, too, that you’ll need a powerful PC to handle multiple cameras and recordings.

Costing is around $1,100 to set up a complete system with five cameras. A starter kit with one camera is $260, and each additional camera is around $215.

NDE Magazine Issue #3

NDE magazine, one of the voices of the Locksport Community, recently released their 3rd installment of this new and popular magazine.

An interesting article written by a notable leader of the Locksport community is as follows:

It’s a New Day:
Security Through Obscurity & the
Locksmith Industry

"It seems that everything changes over time, but the physical security industry has changed
dramatically and it will never again be the same. For hundreds of years the locksmith trade has
been one of precious secrets and knowledge, passed from journeyman to apprentice, from father to
son. That was the old paradigm, or what some might even call “the good old days” of locksmithing.
Today, anyone with access to the internet can discover “secrets” that were previously possessed by
only a select and trusted few. The old paradigm no longer fits and it hasn’t for many years. While
some may wish to blame locksport, it has been this way for longer than locksport has existed. It
is left to the professional locksmiths to grow and adapt to this new world and satisfy the needs of
their customers.
In days of old, the “lock smith” was the one who actually made the locks. They worked hard to
develop the best possible lock, carefully guarding their secrets. They truly aimed to create security
for their customers. Since it was they who crafted the lock, it was they who knew every detail of
it, details they certainly didn’t want falling into the wrong hands. And so it was for generation after
generation, and the system worked reasonably well.
Something changed though, and it wasn’t the proliferation of the internet, where secrets are passed
around more rapidly than a doobie at a Grateful Dead concert. No, it was much, much earlier than
that. What changed? Locksmiths stopped making locks.
Indeed, it was this shift that changed the face of the industry. The role of the locksmith changed
forever. They were no longer craftsman, they were knowledgeable experts. They were no longer
builders and designers, they were installers and troubleshooters. The locksport community didn’t do
that to them. It wasn’t even conceived of yet. It was the economy of mass production that
irreversibly changed their role. It is not to say that locksmiths needed to know less. In fact, one
could easily argue that they needed to know more, with the need to know about the wide variety of
products and options available to the consumer. Locksmiths continued to serve a vital role in
society, but that role had changed.
So what’s the problem? The problem was, and in many cases continues to be, that many of the
“old ways” remained. Left unchanged was the desire to protect valuable “trade secrets” and other
such pieces of information that, at the end of the day, amounts to nothing more than knowledge of
vulnerabilities. To some extent, this was done to protect their trade. While it’s an understandable
position to take, it’s not necessarily helpful. Add to this a second influence that came in the form of
pressure and expectation from the manufacturers. In some sense, locksmiths have become the
salespeople for the lock manufacturers. Locksmiths even invest large sums of money to gain
“authorized reseller” status from leading manufacturers. With all this invested, it’s easy to
understand why they would hold to their old position of security through obscurity.
This does present a serious question to consider: If locksmiths are influenced by pressures to
protect their industry and to protect the interests of the manufacturers they represent, then who
shall stand as advocate for the consumer? This is the question of the moment in the physical
security industry. Before the angry responses begin to fly, it might be worth the effort to note that
not all locksmiths can be painted with the same brush because each locksmith may choose to
conduct their business as they see fit. There are numerous locksmiths that hold, as the single
highest matter of importance, their responsibility to the consumer. With others, the interests of
the consumer have been shuffled down on the list of priorities.
The proliferation of the locksport community, though still in its infancy, has emerged from those
who simply have an interest in the products they use to secure their person and property, and the
limitations inherent within those products. Indeed, few enthusiasts set out to “change the world”
in any meaningful way. However, in many cases some have stepped up to become the de facto
advocate for consumer awareness. This role would not need to be filled if the locksmith industry at
large was fulfilling that need.
It is wise in any industry to consider the needs of the consumer first, because clearly it is the consumer
that drives the industry. For far too long they have been left in the dark concerning the
vulnerability and risk to which they were subjected. This is made evident by the reaction of average
people when they view media stories on the “bumping” technique. Their shock and discomfort
serves to show us that the physical security industry has done a poor job of informing the public.
Locksmith trade groups claim that the technique has been known to locksmiths for decades. If this
is true, why was the public not informed or the vulnerability corrected?
Some argue that it is the public release of information, such as bumping, that creates the vulnerability.
The argument is that bumping attacks were uncommon or even unheard of before information on
the subject was released widely. There is just enough truth in that argument to make it dangerous.
The problem, of course, is that the technique was used. Because bumping leaves little in the way
of physical evidence, it is difficult to accurately judge how often it was used. One can’t help but
wonder if the victims of these crimes would be pleased to know that the locksmith that sold them
the lock may have known of the threat, but chose not to inform the consumer. Were those victims
better off not knowing of the problem?
The issue of security through obscurity is a dead concept in virtually every area of security, except
the locksmith industry. Computer professionals and corporate security advisors have long recognized
that security through obscurity can act as one of many layers in a security plan, but left to stand on
its own it is disastrous. Anyone doubting this might consider a preview of Kevin Mitnick’s The Art
Of Deception. Despite this, the locksmith industry continues to hold tight to its old ways.
This article is an extrospective look at the locksmith industry. That is to say it is written from an
outsider’s point of view. The author writes from his own perspective only. Before anyone lines up
to state the irrelevance of the author’s perspective, it might be worth noting that the author is,
himself, a consumer in the physical security industry. If this consumer’s perspective is considered
invalid, does it not serve to validate the article itself? Food for thought.

Bump Keys In The News

National Public Radio aired this report about a sting operation that nabbed "Bump Key Bandits" in Texas, late last year.

This is further evidence of the vulnerabilities of almost all conventional lock and key systems currently used across America today.

Bilock, is the only pin tumbler product in America that is 100% fully guaranteed bump proof.

The design of the Bilock product is far advanced compared to other products and includes devices that deter effective lock pick devices

Locks210.com and our parent company, Master Key Systems America LLC offers Bilock as our signature product. When combined with the Bioaxxis BD1 fingerprint biometric deadbolt, you create the most formidable lock product available today.

If lock bumping doesnt or hasnt concerned you in the recent past, perhaps it is time to re-examine your priorities?

Many houses and residential condominium and apartment complexes use sophisticated master key systems to easily maintain smooth and efficient maintenance access to residential entries and public areas. With all the recent publicity surrounding lock bumping and the quantity of news stories across America about this issue and the issues relating to Scam and Phony locksmith companies, consumers need to be more diligent and proactive than ever before.

It is staggering the quantity of people I meet who know about lock bumping. If as many people know about it, you can be assured that many people are doing it.

How would you know? There is no evidence of forced entry.

Locksmith scam bill passes state assembly

California has been proactive about the issue of scam locksmith companies with the recent introduction of new legislation that increases fines and convictions for unlicensed locksmiths caught for ripping off consumers.

Assembly Bill 2592 by Assemblywoman Fiona Ma (D. San Francisco) and inspired by a 7 On Your Side investigation passed by a 42-27 vote. Most democrats supported the bill. Republicans mostly opposed it.

The bill would increase fines for unlicensed locksmith activity tenfold to $10,000. It would also place restrictions on misleading ads and require licenses to be prominently displayed.

A 7 On Your Side hidden camera investigation originally aired in February 2007 and uncovered exactly how the scam works.

Consumers locked out of their home call a locksmith desperate for someone to pick the lock. The locksmith pretends the lock is pick proof and then proceeds to drill the lock. The unsuspecting homeowner is then charged as much as $5,000 to replace the lock. Legitimate locksmiths say the normal charge would be $75 to $125.

If the consumer complains about the charge, the locksmith sometimes threatens to leave without replacing the broken lock.

A 7 On Your Side check of locksmiths advertising in the San Francisco phone book found 98 percent of them were unlicensed. Many listed phony addresses or no addresses at all. Many of their phone numbers automatically forwarded to a central call center. Sometimes that call center is as far away as New York.

The bill now goes to the full senate. Nick Hardeman, a spokesman for Assemblywoman Ma, says his office would work with the California Department of Consumer Affairs to gain their support. He says the Department is concerned that some of the provisions in the bill would be too burdensome and impractical to enforce.

How Much Does It Cost To Change Locks?

Here is another take on that design, only in the full form factor. an entire door that glows the color, determining whether it is busy or not.

New Biometric Ignition Lock

Hitachi, one of those forward thinking Japanese companies, recently released details on this new type of ignition lock for cars.

A biometric fingerprint ignition lock, effectively does away with the need for mechanical car keys completely.

You will never lose the keys to your car again (unless you lose your finger).
The one drawback, could be, when taking the car to your mechanic for service or repair. You would need to program their fingerprint into the biometric reader.

This will be one surefire method to prevent auto theft or even the kids from taking mommy and daddy's car for a joyride.

The company’s finger-vein biometric technology has been around for a while, most notably in Japanese banks, but the latest attempt to expand the identity-authentication technology goes public this week at the Tokyo Motor Show.

Hitachi already has a far simpler system that works as a key to open car doors, but the update, which uses a reader embedded in the steering wheel, goes much further.

Aside from acting as an ignition key, each driver’s finger can be linked to their own preferences for seat position, mirror angles and so on. Additionally, Hitachi reckons a driver’s different fingers could be used to adjust different aspects of the car - middle finger to switch on the GPS, little finger for the air-con and the like.

Tennessee Locksmith Licensing to begin July 1st

Tennessee locksmiths will all be required to get a license to work in the state effective July 1.

The law was passed in the 2007 legislative session, but the Tennessee General Assembly postponed the effective date for a year. The licenses will come from the Division of Regulatory Boards.

The application process for the program began last week. All applicants are required to be fingerprinted and must either pass an examination or have documented proof of five years' experience. Also, locksmiths will have to complete new basic and continuing education requirements.

Last October we reported the introduction of the bill to state legislature.

Decorative Door hardware

Came across this well produced video recently and thought it appropriate to upload it here.

Baldwin products are excellent quality and priced in the upper range but for obvious reasons. All Baldwin products are guaranteed against faulty parts for 10 years. There are very few manufacturers that stand so feverishly behind their products.

Baldwin is sold in multiple countries and is considered in some areas as an industry standard that others attempt to compare themselves to.

A professional locksmith can advise the most suitable product for installation and usually complete the installation better than some door companies or hardware store service departments.

If you decide to purchase a good quality product, wouldnt you also want that product installed by a competent and professional expert? Locksmiths are the experts you need to call in to cater to your desires.

Schlage Deadbolt - is this like on your door?

The quantity of interest in Locksport has definitely taken a major shift increase in recent times and equally the number of people purchasing lockpicks has also increased.

In the USA, there are only 9 states with any laws or licensing requirements for locksmiths. Consequently, many undesirables are now in possession of lockpick tools.

Should you be worried? Perhaps! Statistically, break ins reported with no sign of forced entry remain low, however there are increasing numbers because people who get broken into without any sign of forced entry, rarely report it.

Schlage, owned by Ingersoll Rand, have been manufacturing security products for a great many years in the United States. Schlage and Kwikset products are among the most common products found on most dwellings and businesses across the country. The following video shows a young person gaining entry to a common Schlage deadbolt, one similar to the ones found on many residential doors across the country.

Would you enjoy the benefit of a door lock that cant be picked? Especially if it were to cost only fractionally more than a Schlage deadbolt? Do you feel secure after seeing this video?

Master Key Systems America, a family owned company, proudly securing residents and businesses in the greater St Louis Missouri region, offer Bilock Extreme Security deadbolts that are guaranteed pick and bump proof. Add to that, no unauthorised key duplication and your choice of up to 9000 color combination (of keys) and you have the single best defense against lock picking available today.

This sensational product is a major improvement in biometric locking systems and surprisingly reasonably priced. It is also aesthetically pleasing.

Perhaps the bigger benefit is the ability to use a conventional rim cylinder as the key overide mechanism. This is particularly useful for locksmiths and access control companies because this negates the need for special additional purchase cylinders.

Charlie M. (St Louis, MO) November 2015

Danny was pleasure to meet and was very knowledgable. He explained several lock replacement options but I decided none of them were a good fit for a storm door, however, I did replace a lock on my entry door with a type of lock I had never seen before. I would highly recommend this company.
Patricia J (Bridgeton, MO) March 2014
They were prompt and showed up when he said he would show up. He knew his stuff. I had ordered new handles and he was honest enough to say that we don't need them that he can fix the doors and he did. Made me lock and unlock my doors to his satisfaction so that I knew what to do. Am very, very pleased with the service and cost.
Joyce K (Glencoe, MO) May 2015

Showed up on time for appointment. Was very knowledgeable about the project and offered a solution beyond what I asked to be done.
Stephen G (Chesterfield, MO) May 2015

Daniel was right on time, assessed the problems I had with two doors, made the repairs, and explained what caused the problems to begin with .... He is a "door expert" and a true professional. I highly recommend him.

Vince V (St. Louis MO) May, 2015

Danny was fabulous! He went over my concerns and he provided me with more than a fair quote. He was there when he said he was going to be there. I would highly recommend Danny. Cheers!
    Denise S (Imperial, MO) May 8, 2014

Hired Danny to re-key locks on "new" house purchase. He advised to replace with new deadbolts & door knobs on 3 entry doors instead which I agreed with. All doors have 1 matching key & the safety of excellent quality product & workmanship. He also added new strike plate to door frame to complete project.. I recommend as your 1st & only call to a Locksmith.

Denise F (St. Louis, MO) April 3, 2014

Danny was very helpful in solving a pretty complex problem involving many lock.
    Scott C (Eureka, MO) March 27, 2014

Needed patio door track to run smoothly. Arrived early, fixed door and explained what he was doing during repair. Quick and easy. Door works great, my wife will now speak to me, and I've become a better dancer.

    Mike W. (Arnold/Oakville MO) July 2013

The owner spent a longtime with me on the phone helping diagnosis the problem. He was on-time, friendly and helped resolve my issue. I will definitely use him again!

Chris C (Lake St Louis, MO) July 2013

I had a very pleasant experience with Master Key Systems. They came out, did the job (which took longer than expected) and they did not change the price they quoted me. Now, I am not certain that it was a great value for the money because I don't have a comparison, but they did what they said, when they said, for the price they said. Enough said!!!

Antonio B (Saint Louis, Missouri) March 2013

Professional.. Upfront about charges. Fixed the sticky door within 20 minutes. I will recommend Master Key for exterior door issues.
Muthu R (Ballwin, MO) July 2012

Danny was a master craftsman, knowledgable and professional. I will be calling on him again in the future as well as passing on his services to friends and family.

Marsha L (Saint Louis, MO) July 2012

Danny was excellent! I called him on a Monday to fix a sliding glass door. He happened to have the exact part we needed (and it was not an easy find - we had looked everywhere) and he came over Tuesday evening. He stayed until 8:00 until the job was done, and cleaned up afterwards. He was courteous, professional, and efficient! I could not be happier!

Rachel P Maryland Heights, MO (July 2012)

He did an excellent job. Got there on time and quickly solved the issue. Was very pleasant and explained the situation and how to keep the door from sticking in the future. Would definitely use Master Key LLC again!

Neil F. (Saint Louis, MO) April 2012

Danny was very friendly and knowledgeable, although his apprentice seemed to do most of the work, Danny kept an eye on him to make sure it was done right. He had very reasonable pricing for re-keying.
Greg D (St Louis, MO) October 2011

He was extrememly fabulous and helpful and did a wonderful job. He was very professional.
Shannon M. (Arnold, MO) October 2011

Growing up spending so much of my time in Italy, the uniqueness of the Nova Classico left quite an impression on me. To be able to have and enjoy them in my own home here in the states is a nostalgic indulgence I'm enjoying beyond words. Thank you Danny for coordinating this transaction.

Joseph M (Chicago, IL) September 2011

great job. hired on the spot and he did job right then at great price

Ron B (Arnold, MO) July 2011

I searched the internet and found your services. I received three phone calls within several days. A service call was scheduled. Two gentlemen arrived promptly, analyzed the problem and fixed it.
James & Florenc M Saint Louis, MO July 2011

The repairman was on time and did an excellent job of fixing a very stubborn door lock. He was persistent and cleaned up the work area afterwards. I would use this service again.

Brenda F (Saint Peters, MO) June 2011

Danny at Master Key Systems has succeeded in making the purchasing of our Meroni door locks, from Italy, an absolute breeze. Even though I live in Australia with a 16hr time difference and was ordering door knobs from Italy that weren't in stock, the whole process was faultless. Danny was prompt and efficient with all his emails and made sure we had covered every possible variable so that the product I received was exactly as required. I would have no hesitation in recommending Danny for your next purchase.
    Patrick Carr (Canberra, Australia)

Your product really helped because I needed to secure a nurse's station adjacent to a waiting room and needed a pocket door. Unfortunately, no real options were available to lock a pocket door effectively that would keep me compliant with HIPAA and secure an area that stores medical supplies. This was vitally important as this particular waiting room was for "waiting detox patients". Thank you very much.
Randall R The Fritz Clinic (Birmingham, Al) March 2011

Danny was very polite and knew what the problem was and how to fix it. He also gave me some information about other issues that could arise with my door and locks. Will hire again if I ever need that type of work done.
Jason M Imperial, MO March 2011

I had an exterior basement door that dragged when opening and closing. The hinges were not fitting properly and the door frame had shifted, probably due to the age of the house. The screwswould not go far enough into the wall without hitting stone...even using a special drill bit. Dan worked a long time drilling and sanding to shore up the door as best as possible. I know it will never be perfect. He could have easily sold me a new door and the same issue would happen. He was honest, thorough, and did an excellent job without charging me a fortune. I'm satisfied with the door now. If you want an honest, experienced man, Then Dan is the man

Roger M Saint Louis, MO March 2011

I purchased the Cowdroy P697 Pocket door lock with key over the internet. I emailed questions before my purchase and was provided with the answers quickly by return email. The purchase was quick and easy and the lock was shipped immediatly. Installation is quick and easy. But you do need to convert millimeters to inches (use the internet) in the installation instructions. And the lock looks great and works great. I will do business with them again. THANK YOU

    Ed D (February, 2011)
